Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a father who used a hot pressing iron to burn his 10-year-old daughter’s private part because she wet the bed.
The father, Amos Paul, a resident of Unaun, Upenme, in the Owo Local Government Area of the state, was said to have committed the gruesome act on Thursday, July 16.
The incident, which was reported at the police station by a neighbour, revealed that he used a hot pressing iron to burn the private part of his daughter as a punishment for bed-wetting.
The girl sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
Upon receipt of the information, detectives from ‘A’ Division, Owo, mobilised to the scene, arrested the father and took him into custody while the case has transferred to the Gender Unit for more investigation and further necessary action.
He is also expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
