It was a sad moment on Friday evening in Anambra State as a bus conveying some mourners who were returning from a condolence visit in Ebonyi State collided with a tipper, leading to the death of six persons while five others sustained various degrees of injuries.

The sad incident occurred at Nawfia, along the Awka-Onitsha old expressway, around 6:20 p.m., and those who died were said to be four women and two men.
According to an eyewitness, the bus driver caused the accident due to his reckless overtaking, as he was said to  have sped past two other vehicles before he collided with the tipper.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, the FRSC Sector Commander in Anambra State, Bridget Asekhauno, said the those who died had been deposited in the morgue, while the injured were rushed to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku.
The FRSC boss in the state added that officials from the Awka unit responded swiftly, evacuated the victims, and cleared the obstruction to restore the free flow of traffic.
