Two staff members of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc have been kidnapped in the Ogun region.

The IBEDC confirmed this in a statement issued on Monday, May 4, by IBEDC management in Ibadan, Oyo State, and posted on its official X handle.

The statement noted that the staff members were kidnapped on Wednesday, April 29, and conveyed IBEDC’s condolences to the families of the kidnapped staff members.

The statement read, “Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) confirms that two of its staff members in the Ogun region were abducted on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

“We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time.”

The statement further added that the electricity distribution company (DisCo) is working with relevant security agencies to ensure the safe return of its staff members.

“IBEDC is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the safe return of the affected staff. We are also in active engagement with their families, providing the necessary support.

“Given the sensitive nature of this incident and ongoing efforts to resolve it, we are unable to provide further details at this time.

“We kindly request understanding and restraint as we prioritise the safety and well-being of those involved. We will provide updates as appropriate,” the statement added.
