Authorities of the Delta State University, Abraka, have rusticated a 200-Level student of the institution, Ezi Ugoma, for four semesters after she allegedly filmed a dying student at the university health centre and posted it on the TikTok platform.
The university, in a letter of rustication written to the student and signed by the Principal Assistant Registrar (Students Affairs), disclosed that Ugoma, a student in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, carried out the act in breach of her matriculation oath.
It was gathered that Ugoma appeared before the Students Disciplinary Committee where she was accused of “gross misconduct and breach of matriculation oath arising from a case of inappropriate filming, with a mobile phone, the scene of a dying student at the University Health Centre on TikTok.”
The student was therefore rusticated for four semesters with effect from 2025-2026 academic session and she is to resume for academic activities during the 2027-2028 session.
The university wrote: “Accordingly, you are hereby rusticated for four academic semesters with effect from 2025/2026 academic session and to resume studies with effect from 2027/2028 academic session.”
The university added that copies of the letter had been forwarded to her sponsors and other relevant authorities of the university “for their information, guidance and other necessary action.”
