Two members of a kidnapping gang who were arrested after they abducted a lady and demanded for ransom have told men of the Rivers State Police Command that they lured the lady through a dating site.
The state police command announced the arrest on its verified X handle on Wednesday, October 12, saying the two kidnappers, Ifeanyi Chukwu Alozie, aged 25 years and Miracle Nwimene, also 25 years old, were arrested by the operatives attached to the Special Operation and Intelligence Team.
It was gathered that the two men were involved in the abduction of the 24-year-old lady (names withheld) around Igbo Etche area of the state and following intelligence reports gathered, the operatives stormed their hideout and arrested them.
The command wrote: “During the preliminary interrogation, both suspects voluntarily confessed to their involvement in the crime, revealing that they lured the victim through a dating site to Igbo Etche, where she was kidnapped.”
They were also said to have been found with the sum of N200,000 which they had collected from the relatives of the lady before the long arms of the law caught up with them.
They were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives especially regarding other members of the gang while the lady had been reunited with her family members.
