Another set of 48 Nigerian citizens comprising two ladies and 46 men have been arrested in Ghana for engaging in romance scams and other forms of internet frauds.

They were arrested during a nighttime operation led by the Ghana Cyber Security Authority in collaboration with the National Security and the Ghana Police Service in the Dawhenya area of the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Greater Accra Region.

The operation was carried out between 1:40 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 24, across four locations within the Dawhenya area and a man, said to be the ringleader, Austin Osas, escaped and he is currently at large.

According to the Ghana Cyber Security Authority, they were linked to a range of cyber-related criminal activities, including romance scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes, and illicit online gold trading.

At the point of their arrest, items retrieved during the operation included 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one Starlink internet device and eight MTN TurboNet routers.

Those arrested were said to have given useful information to the police officers while a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing ringleader.
