A Nigerian citizen living in the United Kingdom, Saburi Olayinka Adeniji, who was pronounced brain dead at a London hospital after he suffered a serious brain injury, has succumbed to the injury.
Sadly, his wife and daughter could not bid him farewell as he died on Friday less than 24 hours before their arrival in London.
President of the Nigerians in UK organisation, simply known as Oluomo of Derby, announced the sad development on his verified X handle on Saturday, February 7, saying the wife and daughter arrived London on Saturday morning, less than 24 hours after he was certified dead.
He wrote: “It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Saburi Olayinka Adeniji, who died yesterday following a severe brain stem injury.
“Saburi had been under the care of the Critical Care Department at Queen’s Hospital, Romford, since his admission to Intensive Care on 15 January 2026.
“Sadly, his wife and daughter were unable to say their final goodbyes, as they only arrived in the UK today (Saturday).
“The family is truly grateful and deeply appreciates your kindness, support, and generosity during this difficult time.
“We also extend a sincere thank you to all the medical staff at the Critical Care Department at Queen’s Hospital in Romford for their dedication, compassion, and efforts in caring for Saburi.”
